A world filled with robots is just around the corner

The self-driving cars and chatbots of today indicate our proximity to a truly momentous event: the emergence of robots with human-level capabilities and their introduction into every aspect of our lives.




But they are going to require cloud-based intelligence if they are to possess human-like capabilities

  • Now the physical limitations can be overcome with cloud robots that share a ‘brain’ via cloud connectivity.

  • We are entering a period where the capacity for machines to learn will have exponential growth.

  • The advantages of a cloud-based approach (e.g. all robots get to learn from the mistake of a single robot) also contributes to the certainty of this development.

Entities -- be they humans, machines, companies or governments -- need to be able to anticipate the behavior of other entities.

  • Without standards and corresponding certifications, we won’t be able to discern which robots we should trust - or assess how we can trust them.

  • Missing collaboration to develop robust policy infrastructure today - to ensure robots we can trust tomorrow - makes robots that compromise our safety and privacy more likely.

  • A lack of accountability and consumer transparency mechanisms will result in extensive exploitation of humans via robots.

For the full potential of cloud robotics to be realized, such gaps need to be addressed before - not after - they result in tragic events that establish persistent distrust of robots.

ACRO convenes stakeholders of the fast-approaching future when countless AI engines and diverse models of robots seamlessly interoperate.

Keeping humans safe is priority number one, but the bigger vision enables humans to maximally thrive in the emerging human-robot ecosystem, i.e. a better quality of life!

Facilitate

ACRO facilitates the development of "what it takes" to for entities to anticipate the behaviour of other entities, whether they be humans, machines, enterprises, governments or other stakeholders.

The instruments will be carefully selected for each case and will cover the complete spectrum of approaches: Agreements, Standards, Policy and, as a last resort Regulations (ASPR). This is actually more fun than it sounds. Trust us.

Confirm

ACRO provides a means for participants in the cloud robot paradigm to have an independent certification that their AI engine, robot or another component of the cloud robot ecosystem has implemented the expected ASPR.
